GWAR's Crack-A-Thon 2011 Goes Down On September 2nd & 3rd

GWAR is bringing the Crack-A-Thon back to Brooklyn this year! The "spoken turd" event goes down on September 2nd & 3rd at the MF Gallery. There will be two shows each day and tickets are $15-$20. The space is really fucking small so just be aware of that ahead of time. Read the press release after the jump for more details.

Last year's Crack-a-Thon was an attempt by GWAR lead singer Oderus Urungus to raise funds for his humungous drug-habit, and raise awareness for GWAR's fledgling internet TV station. Despite a slew of celebrity guests, including Andrew W.K., both efforts proved to be a "miserable failure", with Urungus actually smoking the money, and GWAR.tv disappearing from the internet after the webmaster was "eaten by a crack-crazed penguin". Never one to be daunted by his repeated failures, Urungus is back with an entirely new schtick...
"Screw a bunch of crappy guests...even if they were great, did it for free, and blew me in the bathroom after the show," said Urungus. "This year I am presenting a special “Spoken Turd” performance, where those humans lucky enough to get in will be treated to me droning on about any number of asinine subjects until I foam at the mouth and fall over backwards...I don't care if you think it's funny or not...you WILL laugh!"
Like last year, the Crack-a-Thon will be held at the MF Gallery, in Brooklyn, New York, on September 2nd and 3rd. There will be two performances per night, at 8 and 11, and tickets are available at www.mfgallery.net/CRACK11/ CRACK11.htm for $20 (seated) and $15 (standing). All four performances will also be streamed live on the inter-web at GWAR.net.

"Spoken Turd" will be a hour-long romp through the mind of Urungus. He may or may not be joined by last years co-host Balsac, homeless animal rights activist Chippy the Chip-o-pottamus, renegade cyborg Mecronos, and psychotic succubi Nekrotika.

In addition to the 2011 Crack-a-Thon, MF Gallery will be hosting a GWAR Art Show, featuring prints, drawings, paintings and more original artwork by Dave Brockie and other GWAR artists. All of the art is also available for viewing and purchasing online at: www.MFgallery.net

MF Gallery is located at 213 Bond Street, between Butler and Baltic Streets in the Gowanus area of Brooklyn, NY. Take the A or G to Hoyt/ Schermerhorn, F or G to Bergen, or the R to Union.
