The Subways & Stuff Magazine

About last night:

The night started out at Northsix around 9:30 or so. The event was the Stuff Magazine "It" Edition party. Two bands played, the first was called Breakup Breakdown. They were decent enough, the faster punky tunes were actually good. In all honesty though the reason anyone was there was to see the new "It" band, The Subways. Most of you have heard "Rock N' Roll Queen" by now, so you're probably aware of these guys. I didn't really expect a whole lot but they were incredible. The energy the band performed with was amazing. It was so punk rock - in spirit, if not in sound.

The overall vibe of the Stuff party wasn't what I expected. I'm a subscriber to the magazine and I always see these pics from thier parties and they look great. I always wanted to attend one. Well, I have now and it wasn't all that. The party was a far cry from the model-fest I was expecting. Not glam at all, but then I guess it shouldn't be if it's in Brooklyn. The open bar was top notch though... if you were fortunate enough to have the Stuff wristband (which I did, thanks Mark).

After the show we hopped in a cab and headed into Manhattan for The Bravery after party at Luke + Leroy. Huge mistake - not fun at all. The music was horrible. The DJ was spinning weird 80's dance shit (not the good kind - if there is such a thing) and hip-hop. The crowd didn't seem too impressed, although some people were dancing. I have a feeling that had something to do with the open bar - which we missed by about ten minutes. We only lasted about an hour and then it was back to Brooklyn.
